“This is a castle; I’ve made it stronger by putting more blocks on the sides.
It’s for Kings and Queens to live in.”
Reception pupil

Our vision at St Aidan’s, is to inspire pupils to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values. By the time every child leaves St Aidan’s it is our intent they can feel confident to take risks, becoming resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable citizens. Our curriculum is implemented through Kapow, covering the statutory content of the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework and the National Curriculum programmes of Study. Each year, the children will study four units which focus on developing specific technical skills. The impact for all St Aidan’s pupils, including disadvantaged pupils and pupils with SEND, is that they can confidently apply knowledge and skills in the design and making of original products and evaluate the effectiveness and suitability of their designs.

If a pupil has difficulty with Design and Technology, adaptations, adjustments and interventions can support knowledge and understanding. Any interventions that are necessary will be discussed with parents/carers and Individual targets sheets competed and reviewed if necessary.
