Today is a special day.
We learnt all about Remembrance Day.
We watched a video about a little girl who wanted to know why people wear poppies.
At 11am everything went very quiet in our school. We thought about the brave soldiers who went to war to keep us safe.
We watched a beautiful animation on CBeebies I player called ‘Poppies’.
We made fantastic poppies using the red dough and coloured poppy pictures in.
I would just like to say how proud we are of all of the Nursery children being so respectful during our remembrance silence.
We have been learning all about the concept of number one and recognising number one. We looked at one spot, one counter and one counter on a five frame. Number One is all alone, number one is one no matter where he is or what he is, he is always number one.
As part of our learning we played the magic cup game. We hid one pom-pom under one of two cups, we moved them around on the table and then we asked our friends to guess where the pom-pom was. They had to shout “One!” Every time they guessed and pointed.
In Nursery, to celebrate Black History Month we have learnt about the talented chef Lorraine Pascale.
We have turned our Home Corner into a restaurant.
We have looked at Lorraine’s recipes and decided that we are going to make flapjacks next week just like Lorraine!
We have been listened to music by Ella Fitzgerald, Stevie, Wonder, The Supremes and Lionel Richie!
We have also been to visit our school library to listen to some amazing stories
The Nursery children listened beautifully during our Collective Worship. They talked about who they love and were very respectful listening to each other.
In Nursery we have been making colour potions to see if we can make any new colours for The Colour Monster. We used lots of different tools to help us mix the colours together.
The Nursery children have been practising singing our nursery rhymes together on the carpet. We also played a game looking at logos to see if we could recognise any.
The Nursery children have been getting their arms and hands ready for wonderful writing. We use our ‘flipper flappers’ to follow the movements with our arms and then recreate these movements using our pencils.
