Romeo and Juliet
Year 4 participated in the Shakespeare Festival. After reading, analysing and writing like William Shakespeare they performed his infamous play – Romeo and Juliet to a jam packed auditorium in Knowsley Leisure Centre.
At St Aidan’s we jump at the chance to visit our local library
At St Aidan’s we jump at the chance to visit our local library. The choice and variety of books is outstanding and the staff are so knowledgeable and helpful. We’ll be back again very soon!
A big well done to this Y2 child
A big well done to this Y2 child who completed the original Black Beauty by Anna Sewell. She started this book in September but by reading it little by little every morning, during reading for pleasure time, she has finally finished a whopping 270 page book!
Year 2 love extended writing by candlelight
Christmas Dinner
All Key Stage 1 had a wonderful Christmas dinner together during our last week. The children sang along to the music and coloured in their tablecloths, with as many Christmas decorations that they could think of. Everybody joined in thanking all the kitchen staff for the lovely dinner and their hard work.
HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!
Goldilocks and the Three Bears
Our fantastic Nursery have been reading the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears. They have had a wonderful time acting out the story, making porridge, re-telling the story and drawing their own bears and cottages.
Any visitors going into the Nursery were immediately shown what was happening in the Three Bears Cottage.
Well done to all our Nursery children! We look forward to the next story you will be reading.
CHRISTMAS STORIES
A big THANK YOU to our Year 6 librarians and friends who have been reading Christmas Stories to the younger children.
This Year we have focused mainly on two of our favourites, The Nativity and Twas the Night Before Christmas.
Each class has been given a small crib to take home and write their own special Christmas Prayer. The prayers are beautiful!
We have also enjoyed a special version of Twas the Night Before Christmas, read out loud by our friend The Teddy Bear. Yes, really, a teddy bear has been reading to us!
All children have loved listening to these stories and looking at the pictures coloured in so beautifully by 5 of our Year 1 children.
In the last week of term we are expecting a special visitor…I wonder who? The librarians will be inviting the children to come into the library and have their picture taken.
Black History Month
Year 5 as part of their history have been studying Black History Month. They decided to look more closely at the transatlantic slavery of black people and Liverpool’s involvement with slavery.
They have been reading a book called,
Henry’s Freedom Box BY Kadir Nelson.
Poppy will now tell you a little about what they have discovered in their research:
Here are some more of our children talking about their research:
