Internet Safety

At St Aidan’s Catholic Primary School, we are deeply committed to equipping our children with the knowledge and skills to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly. We understand that in today’s technology-driven society, internet safety is essential for every child’s well-being and development.

Our approach is holistic and community-focused, involving staff, pupils, and parents/carers in fostering a positive digital culture. We encourage responsible use of social media and ensure that new technologies are used to enhance learning in a safe environment.

To support our children’s online safety, we implement the following key initiatives:

  • Dedicated e-safety lessons and discussions at the start of every computing session.
  • Integration of internet safety throughout our PSHE curriculum.
  • Close collaboration with parents/carers through workshops and Parenting Courses designed to build their understanding and skills.
  • Monthly Internet Safety Newsletters, packed with tips and guidance, available both via email and on our website for ongoing reference.
  • Participation in the Merseyside Policy safety sessions to stay aligned with regional best practices.
  • Continuous professional development, including specialist AI safety training.
  • Engaging Cyber-Crime awareness visits for Key Stage 2 pupils to highlight real-world online risks.

We adhere to statutory guidance from the Department for Education, including the Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) framework and the Education for a Connected World framework by the UK Council for Internet Safety (UKCIS). These guidelines inform our policies and practice, ensuring that our safeguarding measures meet national standards.

Together, we strive to create a safe, informed, and resilient school community where every child can confidently embrace the opportunities of the digital age.
