Personal Development

Our Approach to Personal Development

At St Aidan’s Catholic Primary School, our mission—‘Learning and Growing Together; Inspired by the Love of Jesus’—is at the heart of everything we do. Rooted in the Gospel values and the teachings of Christ, our approach to personal development supports each child to grow in faith, character, and confidence, preparing them to live out their God-given potential in the modern world.

We provide a rich and purposeful personal development curriculum that nurtures pupils’ spiritual, moral, social, cultural, and emotional development, underpinned by our Catholic ethos. Guided by the Religious Education Curriculum Directory (2023) and in full compliance with the Department for Education’s statutory guidance for Relationships Education, RSE, and Health Education, we ensure that our provision is both faithful to Church teaching and responsive to the real-life experiences and needs of our children.

In line with the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework (EIF) 2025, we actively promote pupils’ understanding of themselves and others, encourage responsible choices, and foster an inclusive school environment where British values and Catholic Social Teaching are lived out daily. Our curriculum is enriched through daily prayer and worship, liturgical celebrations, charitable outreach, pupil leadership opportunities, and engagement with our parish and wider community.

Through our shared commitment to “Learning and Growing Together; Inspired by the Love of Jesus,” we support every child to flourish spiritually, academically, and personally—preparing them to become compassionate, courageous, and thoughtful citizens of the future.
