St Aidan’s are really enjoying reading and would like to thank Marcus Rashford for inspiring us to read by giving us free books. We have shared our book reviews with our classes from our last book and we are now looking forward to reading the next book ‘The 13th Storey Treehouse’. We love reading!
Year 1 love reading for pleasure. Each week if we earn enough dojos we have ‘Finger-light Friday’. We switch off all the lights and close the blinds and read our books with our mini torches!
Year 1 visited the school library to learn all about the weather changes in Autumn as part of our Geography topic. Mrs Holmes’s had set up a lovely Autumnal display so we had to make the most of it!
Year 4 enjoyed their visit to the North Shakespeare Theatre. They participated in many warm up drama games, stood on the round stage, watched a short performance from another school and performed part of their play to another school. They are really looking forward to their performance on the 15th November. Tickets will be on sale shortly!
The children had a great time today. They came to school dressed in their comfortable pyjamas with their favourite book, enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies whilst listening to a story, met the author ‘Andrew Williams’ and listened to how he gets ideas for his stories, writes them and illustrates them. The children were asked to design a front cover for his new story and Mr Williams has the hard task of choosing a winning design. Teachers from St. Aidan’s also took part in the masked reader competition and the children enjoyed guessing the readers. All children enjoyed listening to Mr Craig reading a story to them and they all have a book voucher to buy/redeem for a new book. Happy reading everyone!
Year Two had a wonderful time at the Kirkby Centre viewing the Quentin Blake exhibition. The children were inspired to do their own illustrations. They also enjoyed visiting the library and listening to some stories.
We all enjoyed listening to spooky stories read to us by our Reading Ambassadors in our scary library.
