Current news

This term we are focussing on the topic of AMAZING ANIMALS!, we have used our recent trip to Knowsley Safari Park to inspire our learning.

In English we are beginning to gather facts from questions we asked the keepers at the Safari Park and from some internet research. We have already practised filming ourselves giving news reports about animals to help us form sentences to write. Look out for our mini fact files coming soon!

In Science we are learning about how animals differ, we are using new vocabulary like; mane, hoof, snout, whisker, antler and antennae. We really impressed the keepers at the Safari Park by explaining which animals were carnivores, herbivores and omnivores.

In Geography we are exploring our local environment – we are learning all about the geography of St Aidan’s. We have really enjoyed using iPads to photograph our school before writing about our favourite areas. In the Safari Park we enjoyed comparing our habitat to the habitats of different animals.
